Not too many moves this week. kijiji Tokio is heading its way up to the top, now arriving number 2 in total ranking. Vivastreet Paris lost a little after last weeks hype, but still fighting for the Paris crown. 2 categories, community and housing are already lost to kijiji, but 4 categories remain, including the strong marketplace category with firstly more than 10.000 listings! Thats a big bunch! Only Craiglist Sanfran is doing better… ten times to be honest. The place where it all began is showing a big performance on the lisiting rankings, but nearly no growth at all (4% since April). San Fran’s Craiglist seems to finally be at the level, that an free-ad site is able to reach.

Viva!Street

Friday, den 17. June 2005

Woooosh. Three big time winners this week, but only two of them are kijijis! Vivastreet Paris is back with the biggest jump in Hitlist history from 13th to 2nd place in total rankings. Why? Last month’s listing disaster is now turning into a growth opportunity. But PARIS is the classifieds city anyway this week. kijiji and vivastreet broke the asian dominance of the last weeks…

The kijiji capitals: Shanghai, Montreal, Paris, Berlin, Taipei and Tokio

Saturday, den 11. June 2005

Asian dominance remains strong this week. Now Tokio is becoming the newest powerhouse of kijiji growth factory. Have a look at Craigslist San Francisco also, the biggest communtiy on earth but no growth at all. That shows that there is an end to every classified site.

Big in Shanghai

Friday, den 3. June 2005

Asia is coming! This week kijiji Shanghai was catapulted from fifth to first rank in the total listings. Why? A whole lot of listings already (after three months of existence) and a huge growth on this big level. But growing seems to be an asian thing anyways. kijiji Taipei is growing wildly now in the last few weeks. After those sleepy first two months, taiwan seems to wake up. They do even advertise the site with banner ads. And first of all, growing seems to be an kijiji thing. Look at the growth table: from rank 1 to rank 7, only kijiji sites. Theres no other site no where on earth, with is growing faster… My my, where is this heading to?

ebay suchanzeige

Today a was looking for a tennis strategy book called “winning ugly” on eBay Germany. There was none. What surprised me though was a link called: “Geben Sie eine Suchanzeige auf“. Didnt knew before that eBay is offering search ads for things users are not finding on the platform. This service called WantItNow in the US is another inhouse competitor to kijiji. Strange ways they are going… But imagine what happens if those ads are transferred to kijiji platform…
